When Latinos Are Empowered, Minnesota Flourishes

In the month proclaimed as Hispanic Heritage Month, the vision of Camino Contigo takes on a special meaning.
Our vision: to empower the Hispanic community to contribute to building a better Minnesota for all.
But what does it mean to empower?
Empowerment is the process by which a person or a community recognizes their value, their rights, and their abilities to make decisions, overcome obstacles, and shape their own destiny. It is not just about having power, but about believing that we have it—and using it to transform realities.
When the Hispanic community, historically marginalized and given fewer opportunities, becomes empowered, it transforms into an unstoppable force. Empowerment breaks chains of limitation and opens pathways to leadership, entrepreneurship, education, and service. Every family, every worker, every young person who believes in themselves becomes a seed of a better future, not only for themselves but for society as a whole.
At Camino Contigo, we firmly believe in self-sufficiency, in unity, and in the power and talent of Latinos. We know we are hardworking, resilient, and carry an invaluable cultural richness. Our “why” is simple yet profound: to sow today in order to reap a stronger, more inclusive, and more prosperous Minnesota for all.
We want every member of our community to bring out the best within themselves in this country. Because when one of us is empowered, not only do we change our own life—we change the direction of an entire community.
Empowerment is not a luxury; it is a responsibility. It is looking inward and affirming yes, I can; yes, I matter; yes, I have something to contribute. Minnesota needs our hands, our ideas, and our Latino heart. Let us unite, support one another, and work together. The future we dream of begins with the steps we take today.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9
Believing in yourself is the first step. As we always say in our gatherings: everything begins with a thought. So let us start by thinking that yes, we can dream—and as a result, we can turn our dreams into reality.
Let us sow today the greatness of tomorrow for a better Minnesota for all. The future begins with the seed we plant together today because when one Latino is empowered, an entire community flourishes.
